first steps

Mission call to serve in Historic Nauvoo!!!  This blog is written for others perhaps like us who are Senior Missionaries with a desire to serve there.  First steps will come in the next few weeks on the process of applying for a mission, the requirements for serving,  Later then we will tell the joys of being in Nauvo.
August - October:  Had applied to teach in China.  But decided it was not the right choice for us.
November:  Saw where they needed Teamsters in Nauvoo.  Called the Senior Missionary contact person in Salt Lake City, then contacted the Mission President in Nauvoo to confirm the possibility.
December :  Heard back from the Mission President on Tuesday that they still needed a Teamster, which has been Harold's lifelong dream.  Contacted the Bishop and started our paperwork.
Mine was easy to fill in because I was up to date with my Doctor here.
Physical-  Check.     Dental - Check.  Blood work up Check.
Harold's was not so easy, but our Stake President suggested a dentist and doctor from the Church in Tulsa.  Both of them fit him in and did all of his work.  Check
Met with the Bishop.  check
On our way out to Utah for Christmas Break met with the Stake President.  check.
The medical records were then being forwarded to the Bishop and on to the Stake President.
We headed for Utah.  Whew!!!!
We knew that our Stake President had gotten the records the Wednesday before Christmas, but we didn't hear anything back from him.  Figured with everyone being on vacation it was being delayed.  We got back home and saw him at Church first week of January, and he had't realized they were completed.
January   That night they headed for Salt Lake City.
We knew the day they started the process.  Then we found  out they had just filled the Teamster position, the day before our file came through.  We still felt good about our decision though, but weren't sure if Nauvoo would be the destination..  So we waited.
Our Stake President came for meetings in our Ward and said that the Brethren had called him and wanted to know if we would be willing to serve in South America....  Our amazing Stake President told them that this was a lifetime dream and that we needed to be in Nauvoo.
Two more weeks slowly went by.....  Then we found out the call was issued.  One more week went by....  Saturday was the chocolate binge.  but then   This past Tuesday the envelope came saying Visitor's Center Nauvoo.  What all exactly that will entail we do not know BUT we are ecstatic.
When it started sinking in the thought that we will be living in a place we consider consecrated and within walking distance of a temple.  It's overwhelming.  WE ARE GOING TO NAUVOO.
We enter the MTC in Provo 16 of May.
