Arrival!

So much to see and do!  We arrived in Nauvoo on Friday, got our housing.  We are staying in the Thomas Hyde home which is fantastic!  It is a very narrow, 2 story home with a basement.  Front room and kitchen on the main floor, bedroom and Bathroom upstairs and laundry and storage in the basement it is at the end of the road so we are surrounded by a beautiful huge yard and field.
First morning here we met the Mission President and took care of paperwork.  Went by the sewing room and I was fitted for my dresses.  The sisters there made us feel so welcomed and loved!  My dresses will be ready Monday afternoon, since there were only two of us coming in.  We explain now that we are the group of two since a lot of others come in with much larger groups.  We are the last couple to arrive for this year.  We then got moved in, did shopping and restocking and Crashed from exhaustion!  Saturday morning our daughter Tina, her husband and our son Robert with his son all arrived bringing the rest of our things.  We were able to spend the day with them in Nauvoo.  The wonder of being here is still overwhelming.
The ward here is all of the Historic Site missionaries, so it is huge,  hearing them all sing in Sacrament was awesome.  At  the combined Relief Society and Priesthood meetings we ran into people we knew, so that was wonderful.  Leaving out we saw a young couple with 2 year old twins.  They were in for the weekend to see Nauvoo and since we had plenty of food left from we invited them over to lunch, that made us feel even more at home!
A bit of unpacking still to be done and our orientation is tomorrow.  We start working in the Historic Sites on Tuesday, definitely a lot to learn.
Thoughts for our week:
Do what you are supposed to do and the Lord will increase your Faith to do more.
Be willing at all timesto sacrifice who we are for who we can become.

Training Week at the MTC

My  brain sometimes seems to want to explode with all that we are learning.  A few phrases that stick to my mind from the weeks events seem to cover a lot.
This is the Lord's Work and we are on His mission.
If the Lord brings you to it, He will see you through it.
He has promised us a safe landing, but NOT always a smooth flight.
Don't forget the Little Things.
The Church is TRUE - we are not here to prove anything, but to INVITE others to Christ.

Focus on the things of eternal importance and the rest will work itself out.
"the Spirit of God speaking to the Spirit of Man has power to impart truth with greater effect and understanding than the truth can be imparted by personal contact even with Heavenly beings.  Through the Holy Ghost the truth is woven into the very fibre and sinews of the body so that it cannot be forgotten."  Joseph Fielding Smith

We were able to learn and grow from classes.  One evening we were able to go walking with Amber, another we walked around the temple by ourselves.  Friday Evening to top off an amazing week we met with President and Sister Watts from our Guatemala Mission for seeing a Museum and dinner.  They surprised us with several of our Missionaries from our Guatemala Mission showing up at Dinner!  So amazing to catch up with these young men and see how their lives are doing!  Today we will get caught up on laundry and such, then spend some time with Amber.

Preparations made

Shirts and aprons sewn.  House sold and packed.  Music being memorized.   YES!  We are about to embark.  Grateful for our daughter and her husband who are taking many of our things to Nauvoo for us that will not fit in our little car, like computer, sewing machine, bedding and winter clothing.  Looking forward to all that we will learn and the opportunities to serve.  Looking forward to sharing our love for Heavenly Father and the gospel with so many others who will be coming to share with us Nauvoo!
